Steel Tuner does not collect anything. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no network connection of any kind.
The short version. The app listens through your microphone to measure pitch. That audio is analysed on your device, in memory, and is discarded immediately. It is never recorded to a file, never saved, and never transmitted. The app makes no network requests at all, so there is nowhere for your data to go even in principle.
Steel Tuner needs microphone access for the only reason a tuner ever does — to hear the string you are tuning. Audio is processed as it arrives and is not retained. The microphone is only active while the tuner screen is open, and iOS shows its recording indicator whenever any app is listening, so you can always verify this for yourself.
If you decline microphone access the app still runs, but it cannot measure pitch. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
Copedents — your guitar's pedal and lever setup, along with any tuning preferences and offsets you edit — are saved locally on your device so they are still there next time you open the app. This information stays on your phone. It is not synced, uploaded, or backed up to us, because there is no server to back it up to.
If you choose to share a copedent, by mail, message or AirDrop, that file goes wherever you send it and nowhere else. Sharing only ever happens when you explicitly ask for it.
Steel Tuner does not track you across apps or websites, and does not share data with anyone, because it does not have any of your data to share.
Steel Tuner is not directed at children, but it is safe for anyone to use in this respect: it collects no personal information from any user regardless of age. There is nothing for a parent to request or delete.
Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none. There is no data to produce, no data to correct, and nothing to sell — Steel Tuner has never sold or shared personal information, and there is no opt-out to exercise because there is nothing to opt out of.
To remove the information the app keeps on your own device, delete the app. iOS removes its stored copedents and preferences with it.
If a future version of the app ever collects anything — it has no plans to — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes rather than made quietly.
